In a response to a negative review on Yelp, Hometown Animal Care owner Dr. Sutton sent a reply via email alleging long term neglect of a 1 year old pure breed Siamese cat. This was done 45 days after the incident with no objective evidence, such as lab work or any attempts to obtain additional medical records from the pet's primary veterinarian. Dr. Sutton conveys that the cat had undergone a 4-5 lbs loss in body weight in support of his allegation
"He weighed 3.3 lbs. His normal weight should have been over 7 lbs. Comment: To put this into perspective that is easier to understand, this would be like a teenage boy that should weigh 150 lbs. being presented to a human hospital weighing less than 75 lbs. Both the hypothetical teenager and “Hunter” took a long time to get into that condition. It didn't happen overnight. This required a long period of neglect." Tom Sutton D.V.M 4/22/14
The pet owner has responded.
The statements are misleading and said to rationalize the questionable behavior of his staff. Dr. Sutton proceeds to compare a 1 year old Siamese to an average adult house cat to paint a picture of a significant loss in body mass. Hunter was not only a petite Siamese, he was undersized too. What Dr. Sutton failed to realize.............his Relief Veterinarian wasn't the only one to have seen Hunter recently.
Four months prior to this incident. Hunter was seen by his primary veterinarian and underwent a neutering. Complete blood work was done revealing a very healthy Siamese cat................... He weighed 4 lbs.
On 7/16/14, Dr. Sutton responded to the Board complaint "there is no allegation of long term abuse or neglect"
